The premise

I.

Outsized performance isn't about doing more. It's about doing the few things that matter, exceptionally well.

II.

If you need a famous logo to validate a decision you've already made, hire one. If you need the decision executed, that's us.

III.

Strategy sets the trajectory. Execution banks the value. We deliver both.

01 · What we do

The work we take on.

Strategy development and execution, one continuous engagement. We embed with your leadership team, develop the plan together, and stay until it lands in the P&L.

/01

Integration & Separation

M&A creates value on paper; the work after the signature determines what gets captured. On the buy side, we build the integration governance, synergy targets, and operating cadence that carry a deal from announcement to bottom line. On the sell side, we untangle carve-outs cleanly, standing up the separated business, exiting TSAs on schedule, and protecting value through Day 1 and beyond.

Performance Improvement

Your team already knows where much of the opportunity sits. We pair their inside view with an outside-in read of the business, align leadership on the few moves that matter, and convert conviction into a plan with owners, targets, and a drumbeat of accountability.

Embedded Executive Capacity

Sometimes the gap isn't the plan; it's senior hands. We step into the operating model: run the program office, own the initiative, make the calls alongside your team. Then we hand it back stronger than we found it.

02 · The operator difference

The person you hire is the person who does the work.

Traditional firms sell you a partner, then staff you a pyramid. The partner advises a few hours a week; the work is done by smart people who've never run anything. We invert that, and the economics follow.

The traditional model

Partner: sells & reviews~5% of hours
Engagement manager: coordinates~15%
Consultant: analyzes~25%
Analysts ×3: learn on your dime~55%

The KBD model

One partner-level operator: scopes it, builds it, delivers it100% of hours

Someone who has sat in the executive seat at PE-backed companies, and knows what a plan has to survive: real constraints, real politics, real Tuesdays.

Indexed fee load0
1senior resource, no hand-offs, no telephone game
0leverage layers between you and the work
100%of hours at partner level, in the room with your team
~⅓the fee load of a leveraged team for comparable scope

One partner-level operator leads every engagement end to end. When scope demands more capacity, we bring in additional senior practitioners, operators who have held the seat, never junior leverage, so delivery scales without adding layers between you and the work.

Illustrative economics for comparable scope; every engagement is priced to its specifics.

03 · The discipline

A materiality-based approach to everything.

In every business we've worked in, a handful of moves drive most of the outcome. The discipline is saying no to the rest. We size everything, rank ruthlessly, and put senior weight behind the vital few, because a team chasing fifty initiatives delivers few of them.

The broad program: everything is a priority, so nothing is.

04 · How we engage

Flexible fee structures that align our incentives with yours.

Pick the structure that fits your balance sheet and your appetite. All three get the same operator and the same standard of work.

Hourly or fixed-fee. No pyramid markup.

A clean scope at a senior rate, and only the senior rate. You're not subsidizing a staffing model, a training program, or an office tower. Best when you want certainty on cost and speed to start.

Best for

Defined-scope work: integrations, carve-outs, diagnostic-to-plan engagements.

Fees tied to measured outcomes.

A portion of our fees rides on results we define together up front: synergies banked, margin delivered, cash freed. If the P&L doesn't say we won, we don't get paid like we did.

Best for

Performance programs with measurable targets and leadership committed to the chase.

Skin in the game. Literally.

For smaller companies with big trajectories: reduced cash fees in exchange for equity. Your burn stays manageable; our upside arrives when yours does. We build like owners, because we are.

Best for

Founder-led and lower-middle-market companies where cash matters and the ceiling is high.

Every engagement is scoped to materiality: if we can't see a credible path to a multiple of our fees, we'll tell you so, and we won't take the work.

05 · Operating principles

How the work gets done.

№ 1

Data-driven realism

Strategies grounded in data and built to be achievable, not impressive on paper and impossible in practice.

"Targets you can defend in a board meeting and hit in a fiscal year."

№ 2

Execution excellence

Strategy without execution is an opinion. We secure management buy-in, define accountability, and build the messaging that moves an organization.

"Owners, dates, and a cadence that survives contact with the quarter."

№ 3

Simplicity for impact

Complexity is where plans go to die. We cut to what matters most and make it executable by real teams with real day jobs.

"If the plan needs a glossary, it isn't a plan."

№ 4

Culture-informed

Culture eats strategy for breakfast. We design execution and communication around your organization's actual culture, building optimism through change instead of resistance to it.

"We cook with the culture, not against it."

06 · An honest filter

We're a fit for some. By design.

A boutique earns trust by being honest about where it wins. Here's our honest read.

Call us when

  • You want a senior partner in the trenches with your team, not a steering-committee guest.
  • You're a PE sponsor or portfolio CEO who needs value-creation muscle, fast.
  • You have conviction about the destination and need the plan, the cadence, and the hands to get there.
  • You want a partner accountable for outcomes, not deliverables.

Call someone else when

  • You need a famous logo on the cover to get the board comfortable.
  • You want a 200-page market study more than a decision.
  • You're seeking third-party sign-off on a path you've already chosen.
  • You measure consultants by headcount on site.

07 · About KBD

Founded by an operator. Run like one.

KBD Strategy & Execution was founded by Kyle B. Danges after over a decade in strategy consulting and executive leadership roles inside private equity-backed companies. The thesis is simple: the connection between strategy and execution is where value is actually created, and the person who builds the plan should be senior enough, and present enough, to deliver it.

The toolkit comes from top-tier management consulting. The judgment comes from the operator's seat: budgets owned, teams led, integrations landed, quarters made and missed. Engagements have ranged from growth and cost programs at PE platform companies to integration work at Fortune 500 enterprises.

Our approach is rooted in understanding: your business, your objectives, and what's actually holding you back. Then we go to work on the few things that change the trajectory.
